Hey popcorns 🍿
Just to clarify, FOAE stands for Find Out At the End. If you’re super desperate to find out, you can scroll back to the intro post with the 15 day plan, but I’d rather you didn’t! ☀️
We’re actually supposed to be on Day 7… ooops?! 😬
How are you all doing? ☀️ I’d love to know what everyone has been up to in this weird-quarantine time! 😂
Also I am trying to get back to everyone’s comments, but my priority is to catch up with this Writing Challenge but I will reply ASAP! 😊
Writing Challenge 2020 Day 5: FOAE
Glassy, forest green eyes stared up at my anxious face.
He can’t die, he has to live. If he died, I’d have no-one except Matthew; my boyfriend, my competitor but also my greatest enemy.
What do they say? Oh wait, that’s it.
Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer.
Matthew was a Pristini, Latin for former. They could save your life with a swipe of their hand, but they could stop your heart with a twitch of their eye.
I was a Medicus, Latin for healer. I healed physical, obvious damage using healing runes learnt from our training when we were younger compared to Pristini’s who healed magical wounds using magic sourced from his own soul.
The near-dead Medicus lying on the floor was named Kelpi, my secret lover. Matthew could never find out, he’d kill me.
The only reason I was with Matthew was because of our twisted, lying families and their fortunes they were willing to do anything to keep.
Like marry their daughter off as a basic prostitute to a man with extreme anger issues.
I’d faked to Matthew that Kelpi was my brother, there was no other way otherwise he’d get suspicious. They say curiosity killed the cat, but no one ever remembers cats have nine lives.
“Have you made any progress?” I persisted to a concentration-faced Matthew, his hand gripping tightly onto Kelpi’s.
My voice was shaking and I bit down on my lip to stop myself sobbing, my frame already shaking with them.
Kelpi had been sent on a mission to the Himalayan mountains, in search of the rumoured tribe, instead they’d found a vengeful coven willing to do anything to protect themselves.
They’d poisoned Kelpi’s body, magic mutilating his cells one by one. He had mere minutes until his body would give up the fight and surrender, but he wouldn’t.
Kelpi couldn’t die, he can’t. He won’t.
Those few minutes ticked by slowly and tensely as I waited for Matthew to tell me what was happening, scared of pressing for information in case it sparked his anger.
“W-well?” I stammered as he opened his eyes and released Kapi’s hand, Kapi’s limp body still lying flat on the ground.
Why wasn’t he alive? He had to wake up, I couldn’t cope without him. He was my second half, my soul dull and clouded without him.
I needed him.
“There’s nothing I can do.”
“What do you mean there is nothing you can do?” I demanded, desperate for answers.
“I can’t fight my own magic.”
Duh. Duh. DUHHHHHH.
That was so fun to write, I really got into it! 💕 I know my stories aren’t very long but I like to think of them more of extracts from novels that just haven’t been written yet! 😊
The prompt was: write a story that ends with a twist
I’m thinking at the end of this 15 Day Writing Challenge, I might get you guys to vote on which extract you want me to continue with? I’d probably post weekly chapters until we’d published the whole novel! 😊
Did you enjoy reading this story? Has this been your favourite story so far? Would you like to read more of this story if possible?
That’s a wrap! 🌊
