Hey there!
Tons of good and bad stuff has happened since I last posted. But guys, the time has finall come for a *drumroll please* third Quirky Ramblings post. Very exciting, and it’s a topic I am super passionate about, and maybe you will be as well after reading this! Before I go on, here is a quick life update.
- I’m getting glasses. Like this is big guys xD Anyways, I hadn’t been to an optician for like ages. So she asked me to read the letters and stuff, covering my left eye to see if I could see well through my right eye and I was fine. Then she covered my right eye to see if my left eye was working properly, and all the letters were fuzzy, no joke she had to make them massive before I could make out what they were, I got really scared and was like everything is fuzzy that is far away!! So the reason I’v never really noticed is because my right eye has been doing all the work! I definitely show you guys a picture of them, but not so sure about face reveal, I kinda like this blog anonymous π
- I had another flare up of pompholyx eczema (see here) so that was pretty stressful as I missed 3 days of school so I was not feeling very confident and I also got a really bad cold on Thursday.
- I’m meditating a lot more often and finally very calm and relaxed a lot of the time – I can really recommend it for dealing with emotions eg. pressure and stress
Let’s jump right into the third post of Quirky Ramblings!

Labelling :assign to a category, especially inaccurately or restrictively.
First of all let’s talk about labelling and exactly what I mean. A couple of words that might come to your head is jumping to conclusions or associating someone with something they’re not. For example, let’s start small here. A girl or a boy comes up to you and they’re wearing glasses, have braces and carrying textbooks. What would be the first word that comes to your head? Geek. Nerd. Unpopular. Weird. I think we all assume things of people. What if that girl just happened to enjoy English literature, had bad eyesight and crooked teeth? Does that make her a geek, it’s not her fault yet we never stop and think. We jump to conclusions. Yo’re probably not going to try get to know that girl, because does it involve you? No. Does it concern you? Not really. Is she your problem? Not for now. Does she deserve a chance for people to get to know her? Yes, of course she does! I’m not saying I’m the innocent one here. Far from it, in fact. I’m as a guilty as everybody in this hemisphere. But we need to change, change our instinct . Kinda like fight or flight, but more like see or flee. I don’t think American high school films help. With their crazy social status ladder, it portarys a lot of people who are just different from the rest as strange, weird, people who you are not to be seen associated with.
Stereotypes: In social psychology, a stereotype is an over-generalized belief about a particular category of people. Stereotypes are generalized because one assumes that the stereotype is true for each individual person in the category.
Stereotyping is kinda like categorising people. Assuming that everybody who is in that category is the same. Think the same. Act the same. Behave the same. I think stereotypical people and labelling people a have a lot in common. Would you expect a beautiful girl to be nerdy and love school? On the off chance maybe, but not very likely. Are you a stereotypical person? Truly,I think we all are. But there is always time to change that! β€
What did you guys think? That was a pretty long post to write, here are some quotes and questions for you guys to answer in the comments! <3333

Did that quote just move up your favourite quote list? / Have anything else to say about labelling and stereotypes?/ Has this post made you think about the subject a bit more deeply? /
That’s a wrap! β€

ps. May not be blogging for a little while as have a lot of revision to do for exams and going on holiday in Easter Holidays (which is super exciting!) What do you guys think of the new sign-off? That’s my new official font *squealll* β€ Guys, by the way, how do you delte a category? Please let me know in comments! c:
I’m getting glasses too! And I’m so nervous. Actually I knew I was gonna get them, but I delayed it due to fear of wearing them for the rest of my life! And guess what? My eyes are in a bad condition now! Not that bad though 1.75, if that’s considered too muchπ€£ I regret it now. But anyways one way or another, I’m stuck with them! Glad you realised it earlier! Things would be better for you!
Penny xxx
That’s so cool Penny! I’m a 1.25 but as you get older apparently your sight deterioates, grrr. Penny, there is seriously no need to be nervous! I was really scared and then I just thought does it really matter? Just be strong and beautiful, and if you ever get that fear then just imagine locking it away and destroying the key π Yep, that’s the sucker about not catching bad sight early enough. 1.75 isn’t too bad, I’m only 0.50 behind you π Seriously don’t worry about it, I’m sure you’re gonna look amazing!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and reading my post x

Yassss I love quirky ramblings! And Iβm late again! Congratulations on the glasses! I absolutely love how glasses look on, Iβd quite like some myself! Enjoy your holiday! π
Yaaaaaaassss amber ! I absolutely agree with everything you said !!!! I think stereotyping is such a big issue and gurrrrll good luck with the glasses ! Youβre gonna look amazing ! β¨ππ
Aw, thank you so much Isabel! π Glad you preach it x I know right, I hope Iβve made people more aware about it (hopefully π) and thank you! Not looking forward to dizziness and headaches, but I will get through it π Thank you so much, that means a lot! π
Amber x
Oh my gawd, Isabel I am so sorry so you know how you replied to my reply to this comment? While I accidentally deleted it before I could start reading it so I am soo sorry, donβt think Iβm ignoring your message! ππ
Sooo sorry x
Amber x ππ
πππππ itβs totally fine ! Donβt worry itβs ok! πππ
Isabel x
P R E A C H!!! Girl everything you said is soooo true, like I assumes people with glasses that were smart, were total nerds and when I got told I needed to get glasses I was pretty worried about what would they look like on? Would people make fun of me? Would I look weird?
Totally relatable! π
Hannah xx
Aw, thanks! Glad we both preach it π Exactly! Donβt worry, I did too until I realised I needed them as well. Gurl, Iβm sure you look amazing 8n your glasses and as beautiful as you sound on your blog β¨π Iβm pretty scared about that, but Iβm sure my bestie at school would be there for me 100% π
Thank you,
Amber x
Awww thanks sooo muchπ and Iβm sure she will be and if she isnβt just because of a pair of glasses well thatβs pretty stupid! Sheβd be stupid to lose such a good blogging bestie like you! ππ
No worries, itβs all true ππ Aww, you have no idea how much that means to me, thank you so much Blogging Bestie, that means a lot π
Thank you,
Amber π
Oh Amber. This post literally means the world to me, as someone who has been labelled their whole life. Thank you lovely xxc
Aw, Rhi! That means so much to me. I am really sorry to hear that, and Iβm so glad you understand! Damn gurl, they need to get to know you and see the beautiful, incredible girl you are!! ππ
Thank you so much,
Amber x
When you first start wearing glasses your head might ache. But after a few days you’ll be fine π Great post!! x
Yeah, Iβve heard that! π Thanks for the heads up π Iβm getting them on the Friday and going on holiday on the Monday, so I have to wear them all day Saturday and Sunday before the headaches go π
Thank you Isa! π
Amber x
ps. Do you wear glasses? x
You’re welcome! That, really sucks, I hope you have fun on your vacay tho! I do wear glasses but not all the time π Just when i’m driving, (unless i forget rip), watching tv, or i have to look far away π x
Aw, thank you! π I know right, kinda annoying right π Hopefully the headaches are gone by Monday, otherwise Iβm screwed π Thanks! I love the way Martians call it vacation, itβs so call! So much more interesting than βholidayβ π I think your like me, I need them watching tv and just generally looking at things far away like when I drive or if I was cycling π (which I donβt do very often… π΄)
Thank you,
Amber x
Hahah, there’s a lot of things that British and Australian people say that I think are very cool. Others are just confusing. For instance, you say pavement instead of sidewalk?? Like what?? x
I know right, itβs kinda crazy. Some things confuse me. Like when you guys say letβs go on the sidewalk and Iβm just like pavement, come on guys, itβs a pavement xD But I guess logically, yours is more correct, because it literally is a βside-walkβ π
Lol, the confusion between languages. So many people find British words strange, I mean I guess Iβve grown up with them so they donβt seem strange if you get me? xD
Amber x
But it’s also literally made of pavement xD
Good point! π Like the material is pretty much pavement, if that kinda exists…?! x
Amazing well written post! And heads up — when you first get glasses it’s gonna make you a little dizzy and disoriented.
Thanks so much Josh! Thank you for keeping up with my blog, I need to check out yours. Things have been so hectic and Iβve got a lot of comments to get through but Iβm working on it. Will definitely be checking out your blog VERY soon. Thanks for the heads up π Yep, I get them on the Friday and go on holiday on the Monday, so I have to wear them all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get used to them and less disorientated, do you wear glasses? x
Amber x
I’ve had to wear glasses for 4 years I think. Hope you used to the glasses before your holiday!
Thatβs pretty cool π Me too *crosses fingers* π
Good luck getting glasses! Great post – totally agreed <33
Thank you, Iβm kinda super nervous about what people think but I know it will be fine! π
It definitely will π
Aw, thanks Gracie π
