My first bujo ft. some pics + some advice!

Hello! And it’s me, 3 days older than when you last read my content! 😊

So, I started my bullet journal a little late (12th Jan, to be precise) so I’ve not been able to do everything I’ve wanted to do and I’ve still not managed to set out a spread yet, I’m not very prepared for this month! πŸ™„ For this post, I’m going to be sharing with you some tips I can share, the pens I’ve used PLUS some exclusive pics that I can’t wait to share with you!

+ page one I wasn’t sure what to do on my first page, I flicked through tons of Pinterest pics, and then I came out with this πŸ˜‚

+ page two I was kinda stuck for fonts, what do y’all think? I haven’t done an ‘official’ key as I haven’t done a spread yet (kinda bad bad, I know).

+page three this is one of my favourite pages! I’m definitely going to add some pictures to brighten it up, but I just think the firework looks nice against the black.

+page four January title page!! Who knows, maybe I’l add to it?!

+page five Quote page (on the right of the jan cover page), it looks really nice in real life, I’m going to add some colour, I wondered if anybody knew where you could buy those like funky tapes? Just to spice it up.

+page six I got bored and thought I’d do a book log, it’s basically books I’ve read in January, just so I can log it to log it 😜

+page seven as y’all know, I play the violin so this is to tack when I practiced (I kinda took a break on the holidays, I had tonsillitis, a sickness bug and (currently) a cold so violin hasn’t taken much space in my life *nervous laugh*

+page eight Just to track meh daily steps, no harm in that 😊

Well, what did y’all think?

Some things I learnt the hard way…

Make your journal unique to you! Don’t copy other people’s, take inspiration and make your own design!
Add as much colour as you want! There’s no limits!
You can make it as complicated as you want, or as simple as you want!
Try pre-prep your bullet journal, it helps, ALOT.
You don’t need any expensive brush pens to make it great, just some fine liners or colouring pencils!
Pencil before pen! Always draw in pencil, then over in pen!

Here are the pens I used…

Can anybody recommend any pens? I spotted the brush pens (pic below) but I wasn’t sure if they were good, any fellow bujo owners care to share their ways?

Well, thanks for reading guys? Have you started a bullet journal? Are you having trouble knowing which pens to buy?! Care to share, tell me in the comments! πŸ’›

    1. Aw, I’m so glad! πŸ’› It’s lovely to hear that you like my bujo πŸ’— That’s great! You should really do a post about it, I love seeing other people’s ideas! ⭐️ Thank you so much, it’s starting to grow on me, I wasn’t so sure of it πŸ˜† Thank you so much for following me! That’s really kind, I’m about to pay your blog a visit! Will look forward to reading some posts x

  1. Hi Amber! As you know I’m new to bullet journaling too, but I haven’t taken the risk of showing any pictures to people, so you are very brave! πŸ’ž I LOVE YOUR BULLET JOURNAL! 🌟 yep, I have to say your designs are so pretty and oh my gosssh! I am just in love with your designs! I love the idea of an instrument practise tracker too – definitely a great way to stay on top of practicing! πŸ˜‚ Great post as always, Autumn x

    1. Yes, how’s your bujo doing? Aw, thanks Autumn, it was a bit out of my comfort zone sharing my (non-existent) calligraphy skills but it was worth it! πŸ’› I bet you yours would be amazing too but there’s never ya pressure to share things, I was just pretty proud of it 😊 That’s so nice! I’m really glad you liked it, there was a lot of inspirational from Pinterest, but I put my spin on a lot of things. THANK YOH AL MUCH!! ✨😊 Sorry for caps πŸ˜‚ I’m currently struggling to find spreads that work for me so am trying out different ones each week to see which one works for me the best. My mum was so happy when I added the instrument tracker, because I always struggle to remember when I’ve practiced and it helps me know that I need to practice more and improve etc. I completely recommend it for tracking anything, not just an instrument, that you want to keep a log of! Instead of finding a space in your brain, put it on paper! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I’m so glad you liked my bujo! πŸ’›

      1. My bujo is still going strong… well, kind of! πŸ˜‚ It’s certainly not as good as yours, but I like how personal and customisable a bullet journal is – it’s made by you for you! πŸ’ž Oh my goshhhh – you should see my calligraphy if you think your’s is bad: I think your’s is great, although I am no expert! πŸ˜‚ My calligraphy is non-existent…. I just need to practise more but I don’t find the time! Your tracker is definitely a great idea – I’m going to add one in my bullet journal in February- thank you so much for the IDEA! πŸ’‘ And trying different spreads each week is a great idea too! Thanks for the advice & for sharing your incredible bullet journal Amber! πŸ’™ Autumn x

        1. That’s great! πŸ’› I’m sure it looks amazing, I was really hard on myself on how it looked and then I realised it’s my journal, it’s supposed to reflect me, no point getting annoyed about the ink smudge! πŸ˜‚ (Damn, they annoy me πŸ˜–)
I think I’m going to do β€˜Lesson in the art of my failing calligraphy’ soon, so many you might pick up a couple of tips from that? My calligraphy is getting better, but like you said, it’s finding the time to practice it 😫 Yes, I’d love it if you’d use that idea! If you need any inspiration, or ideas you can just ask me (though I’m no professional here πŸ˜‚) I think I’m going to try a different spread every week, just to try new things! πŸ’›
No worries, Autumn 😊 I’m glad you took some inspiration πŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks, Hannah! πŸ’› I’m super proud of it, I didn’t think my calligraphy would be that good, and that people would like it so much ✨ I would definitely start nw, it’s never too late πŸ™‚ It’s like a quote on the front page πŸ˜› (for those quote lovers… 🀣)

  2. I’m also a bullet journaler! I love the fireworks! I only own one brush pen, and it’s pretty expensive and I got it as a gift, but it’s really nice! They’re called Tombow pens.

    1. Whoah, hello, fellow bullet journaler! 😊 Thank you so much, with a lil’ help from Pinterest 😜 Yes, I’ve heard a lot about Tombow brush pens and apparently they are really good, so I’ll definitely be investing my money into some pens (or maybe ask it for a gift, you know, meh Birthday is comin’ up! ✨)
      Thanks for reading, Sapphire 🌟

  3. This looks great ! I have a Bujo and will soon be doing a post about it ! It’s really helpful and I love the spreads !πŸ’•πŸ‘ I’ve been doing calligraphy for a while now and I’m afraid my only advice is to practice when learning calligraphy ! I use just normal crayola felt tips for calligraphy !! I love your cover page for January!πŸ’•πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š I haven’t checked Pinterest for designs but I totally should and what bujo book did you get ? X I noticed that it had dots instead of lines so did you get a new one ? Loved your artistic work ! Amazing post , as always !! πŸ˜„πŸ˜πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ‘βœ¨

  4. Ahh haha I love how you opened this post! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ’• Your bullet journal looks great! 😊 Oh, and you can buy washi tape at most craft stores (such as Michael’s and Hobby Lobby, not sure if you have those where you live).
I’ve been using Crayola’s fine tip markers for most of my lettering projects lately! I love them πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

    1. Thanks, I was struggling for introductions and I hoped it would bring a smile to people’s faces 😊 Thank you soo much! πŸ’› I’m really glad you liked it, I was kinda nervous to show people as I thought a lot of people wouldn’t think it was that great, but I’ve been proven wrong 🌟 Most likely not, but I will definitely be looking to see if there are any of those stores near me (I live on an island so the choice is VERY limited) πŸ™„ Ooo, a lot of people have recommended them! Will definitely be looking into buying them, thanks for recommending! I love listening to people’s suggestions, it’s just great to hear what works for different people πŸ™‚
Thank you very much for reading Maggie πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›βœ¨
